On Sunday morning, an unfortunate incident transpired involving an ATR 72 aircraft operated by Yeti Airlines, which was en route from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Tragically, the aircraft crashed in the vicinity of Pokhara, situated in the Kaski district.

The flight carried a total of 68 passengers, along with four dedicated crew members. This comprised three infants, three children, and 62 adults, all of whom embarked on their journey with hope and anticipation.

According to Sudarshan Bartaula, the spokesperson for Yeti Airlines, the aircraft, identified by its registration number 9N-ANC, initiated its journey from Kathmandu, departing at 10:30 a.m. The flight was bound for Pokhara, a scenic destination nestled in Nepal’s embrace.

Social media platforms bore witness to a distressing sight, as images and videos captured plumes of smoke emanating from the crash site, serving as a stark reminder of the tragedy that unfolded.

Security personnel, joined by local residents, have been mobilized to conduct rescue operations at the crash site, working tirelessly to offer assistance to any survivors and assess the situation.

In response to this heartbreaking incident, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has convened an emergency meeting of the Council of Ministers. The Prime Minister has issued directives to the Home Ministry, security personnel, and all relevant government agencies to swiftly initiate rescue and relief operations, demonstrating the nation’s commitment to providing immediate assistance to those affected by this tragedy.
